Christmas is Idol worship, Don’t Celebrate it – Abraham Obugyei (2020) The General Overseer of Universal Church of Jesus, Apostle General Abraham Obugyei has hinted that no Christian should celebrate Christmas because it’s a worship of an Idol.
He said that there is no scripture in the Bible that talks about the celebration of the said festival (Christmas). According to him, the term, “Christmas” was derived from Roman’s idol called Mas but because the devil wanted to deceive Christians, they attached the name of “Christ” to it making “Christ-Mas” which literally means Christ and Mas so if one celebrates such festival, it’s the idol you are worshipping not a birthday of Jesus Christ.
He hinted Biblically that Jesus Christ wasn’t born on the 25th December according to both Romans and Hebrew calendar so why his birthday should be celebrated on such a date according to some Christians who think Christmas the celebration of Christ’s birthday? The nation’s preacher, Apostle General Abraham Obugyei said, Jesus Christ, didn’t ask anyone to commemorate his birthday but rather during communion service.
